Two banks have been competing to lead the Brazilian financial space. One is a young bank founded a decade ago while the other is more than seven decades old. Their names, Itau Unibanco and Banco Bradesco respectively.
A recent acquisition, however, stiffened the competition between these two giants. Bradesco bought HSBC Bank for a whopping $5 billion in 2015. This acquisition was made under the management of Luiz Carlos Trabuco Cappi who was as a result awarded Entrepreneur of the Year.
Luiz Carlos Trabuco Cappi at Bradesco
Luiz Trabuco Cappi started working at the Marilia branch of Banco Bradesco at the age of 18. He became the Marketing Director after working for several years and moved to the Sao Paulo branch. While in this position he made efforts to popularize Bradesco with the media which in turn increased business for the bank. After eight years, Luiz Carlos Trabuco was promoted to Bradesco Vida e Previdência as CEO, which is a privately-own branch of Bradesco that dealt with a private pension. He worked her till 1998. In 1998, he was chosen to be Managing Director of Banco Bradesco, and a year later he became Executive Vice President.

Presidency of Bradesco Seguros
In 2003, Luiz Carlos Trabuco Cappi rose to the presidency of Bradesco Seguros which holds eight other companies under it including Bradesco Saúde, Capitalization and Vida e Previdência. It was during this time that he regulated the opening of Bradesco’s shares onto the coveted New York Stock Exchange. Under his leadership, Bradesco Seguros grew more than twice its size. Moreover, the insurance firm boosted its performance to become the largest in Latin America, in its sector.
Rise to Presidency of Bradesco
This experience of more than four decades was perhaps what led Luiz Carlos Trabuco Cappi to be appointed as the 4th President of Bradesco. He led the HSBC acquisition during his tenure here and also presided over the creation of Unibrad, a corporate university under Bradesco. Luiz Carlos Trabuco was appointed Chairman in 2017 and ascended to the presidency of the bank.
Luiz Carlos Trabuco has been awarded several awards due to his contributions to Bradesco. He was dubbed Business Personality of Insurance in 2006 and 2007. He also won the Don Quixote Trophy in 2009. The same year he was added to the List of 100 most influential Brazilians. He also got onto the Forbes Magazine List of Best CEOs in Brazil.
Luiz Carlos Trabuco is from Marilia, born and raised. He studied at Sao Paulo University and graduated with a degree from the Faculty of Philosophy and a post-graduate diploma from the school of Sociology and Politics.
